Samuel has been wishing to keep bees for many years. (He is 10), anyway his wish is coming true, our neighbor is mentoring him in his new ambitions. We are researching how to keep them organically, and I think it will Not be as impossible as some say. Soon our son will be "self sufficiant," (and by the way, bee keeping equipment and books are his Christmas list...)

Hi Sam! So excited about your bee keeping endeavor. I am going to be working with top bar hives, a more organic, self sustaining approach. We'll be able to compare notes. Top bars give less honey but are a more natural alternative for the bees. Can't wait! I'll be building my first hive this winter to start a hive in the spring.
